A dream house inspired by the Italian Renaissance, just minutes from one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica.
This beautiful home is located in the Bosques del Lago residential area, near Puerto Carrillo, less than five minutes from Playa Carrillo, one of Costa Rica’s top beaches. Bosques del Lago is a small community of Costa Ricans and foreigners that is extremely tranquil and secure, ideal for families or vacation rentals.
The name "Villa Palladio" refers to the Italian architect Andrea Palladio, one of the most celebrated figures of the Renaissance. In the 16th century, Palladio designed numerous palaces and country houses in Northern Italy, particularly in the Veneto region (around Venice). Palladio’s ingenuity was so influential that his interpretation of the structural and ornamental language of antiquity led to the creation of an architectural movement known as "Palladianism," which took strong root in English and North American architecture, from Palladio’s time to the present.
The “Villa Palladio” project was conceived by German architectural artist Dr. Daniel Veith, aiming to create a house in a “tropical Palladian” style, inspired by the bucolic environment and unique peace one can feel on the property, surrounded by lush trees that provide pleasant shade in the tropical heat. At first impression, Dr. Veith mentions the memory of an Italian Renaissance park, recalling one of Palladio’s many estates in the Italian cities of Verona, Vicenza, and Treviso.
While Palladianism spread widely in Anglo-Saxon countries, there are almost no examples in Latin America, making “Villa Palladio” in Carrillo the first residential work created in this style in all of Costa Rica.
“Villa Palladio” stands out for its imposing façade, nearly 7 meters tall and visible from the street, featuring large windows throughout the ground floor and interpreting the most prominent architectural motif of Palladianism: three-panel sliding doors with the central section taller. The use of steel elements on this front façade adds a modern, contemporary touch to the house's classic lines.
Inside, measuring 112 square meters, “Villa Palladio” includes a spacious double-height living area, divided into a living room, dining room, and kitchen with an island and breakfast bar, as well as an adjacent laundry room. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of which is exclusively for the master suite that also features two walk-in closets, provide direct access to this central area. The bedrooms accommodate 6 people, and by replacing the queen bed in one of the secondary bedrooms with a double bunk bed, the villa can sleep 8 guests.
In front of the house, a terrace extends from side to side, and at a lower level, there’s a 15-square-meter swimming pool with a decorative ceramic-clad wall reminiscent of a pond in famous Renaissance parks like Villa d’Este in Tivoli or the Giardino di Boboli in Florence.
The project includes a separate building with a covered garage and a storage room of nearly 30 square meters, which also houses the pool equipment room. Plumbing for potable water and electricity has already been installed, along with provisions for a sink, toilet, and shower, allowing this structure to be easily expanded into an independent apartment, ideal for rental.
